Mumbai Cyber Fraud: Malad Woman Loses ₹15.23 Lakh to Unauthorised Transactions, Suspects Hacking

A 43-year-old resident from Malad, identified as Mrs. Panchal, has reported a significant financial loss from her bank accounts through unauthorized transactions totaling ₹15.23 lakh.

Despite not sharing sensitive banking details, including OTPs or account information, Panchal noticed the large sums missing.

She stated that no transaction alerts were received via text or email on the days in question.

When she contacted her bank, she was informed that an overdraft of ₹10.21 lakh had also been withdrawn from her fixed deposit account. Panchal believes someone illicitly accessed her accounts.

A complaint has been filed with the North Cyber Police, who have registered the case under the Information Technology Act, marking another incident in a series of cyber fraud cases targeting Mumbai residents.
