Malad Man Arrested for Stealing Wife’s Gold Jewelry Worth ₹17.15 Lakh

Mumbai police have arrested a man for allegedly drugging his wife and fleeing with her gold jewelry worth ₹17.15 lakh in Malad East.

According to the FIR, the complainant, a widow, remarried after her daughter created a profile for her on a matrimonial site. She met Pramod Naik, who claimed to be a finance head at an event management firm and a widower. After a court marriage, they began living together in Malad East.

Naik allegedly persuaded her to keep her gold jewelry at home instead of a bank locker and ordered a safe on January 23. The next day, she complied and brought the valuables home. On February 1, he offered her a soft drink, after which she lost consciousness. When she awoke the following morning, both Naik and the jewelry were gone.

Police launched an investigation and tracked Naik, leading to his arrest. Further inquiries are underway.
