Fact Check: Viral Video of Burning Car Claimed to Be from Malad, Mumbai Is Actually from Jaipur, Rajasthan

A viral video showing a car engulfed in flames is being falsely circulated on social media, with claims that the incident occurred on a highway in Malad, Mumbai. However, this claim is misleading.

What Are the Facts?

The video in question is not from Malad, Mumbai, but from Ajmer Road in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

According to a report from the Times of India, the incident involved a driverless car that caught fire and collided with a parked bike near Sudarshanpura Pulia, Jaipur.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the car stopped after hitting a road divider.

Rajasthan Tak also confirmed the location by sharing visuals of the burning car on their YouTube channel on October 12, 2024, with the translated title: “Jaipur: Public kept running ahead and ‘Burning Car’ kept running behind. Video Viral.”

This viral video is incorrectly being attributed to an incident in Malad, Mumbai, but it clearly belongs to an incident in Jaipur.
